DAY 23: [LOKI] How do you beat mind games?

Loki is the trickster god.

I would define “mind games” as when a person gaslights you, lies to you, forces you to question your reality, tries to mess with your head and make you believe something that isn’t true. Mind games can be conscious and deliberate, but most often they are completely subconscious and the person is unaware that they are playing mind games on someone. I think that there are two reasons for playing mind games – either out of boredom for one’s own amusement, or because a person is feeling extremely insecure and powerless.

I think that the best way to beat mind games is to ignore them and do not give that person a reaction. When people play mind games, they are looking for a reaction and they feed off of it, so it’s best to pay it no attention at all. That doesn’t mean ignoring that person completely, but ignoring the games that they are playing. You can beat them by killing them with kindness. They are trying to pull out a dark side of you, the one that wants to argue and fight and cause more drama. You should be very nice to them while maintaining boundaries at the same time.
