Coming Soon: Sequel to “The Captain & the Mermaid”

I’m currently in the process of developing the sequel for my first self-published book, “The Captain & the Mermaid: Conquest of the Mystical Mermaid.” This one will be called “The Captain & the Mermaid: Bring Back the Magic.” I have already chosen the cover, although there is a slight chance that I may end up changing it, but as of now this is it!

I have written three novels so far and this is the only one that feels like there is so much more to the story than just one book. For my other two novels, I felt like I said all that needed to be said of the storyline. For this one, I feel like there were still a lot of unanswered questions.

This has been my most popular and highest sold book of the three that I’ve written. It’s received the most praise. In my third and most recent book, I made it 18+ with some adult content but I don’t think I’ll be going back to that. I am proud of the book and I’m glad that I wrote it, but I mainly went into that genre because a lot of my girl friends were saying that I should. It’s just something I wanted to try once at least. So, this next book coming out will be family friendly.

The sequel continues where the first book left off and then fast forwards a few more years ahead. The first book was essentially about a romance in which two people take turns running and hiding from one another until you finally get that happily ever after. It covers all of the dramas that you go through when you are chasing after someone who is unattainable which has you lost in this fantasy. And in real life, you will never end up with that person.

Well, this sequel covers the aftermath of what would happen if you did end up with the person who you fantasized over because they were so unattainable. I think that it is human nature (and apparently mermaid nature) to be most drawn to the person who you can’t have. So, this really explores that what happens next, if you do have the person who you thought you could never have?

Even when you do get your happily ever after, there will always still be challenges to deal with. And those challenges will be extra tough when you built your life around the fantasy of your dream partner, the one you became so obsessed with because they were so forbidden, to have that illusion smashed and see reality for what it is.

It may sound somber, but this is still a happy story. Just like the first book, it will have its ups and downs. But best of all, it will be full of mermaidlore, which is really the most important part of it all.

I don’t know when this will be completely finished but it will be done in the near future. More details to come soon.
