I had a very nice Labor Day weekend with my dad and my sister. I went to NY for the weekend in the hometown of Oyster Bay where I was born and raised. The town continues growing and it’s gradually becoming nothing like the place I remember it as!
My dad and I walked into town and went to a local restaurant for lunch. I had an eggplant pizza. It was delicious and went beyond my expectations. We also ran into a friend from my dad’s childhood, which was pretty crazy, as they were just visiting.
The weather was beautiful as we’re finally getting relief from the summer heat waves. Later on, we picked up Julie from the train station.

For dinner, we walked back into town and went to Cooper Bluff. It’s this place that’s right off the harbor that serves drinks. I had a margarita slushie. It was so lovely to be right by the water.
It was super crowded, so we decided to go further into town at a sit-down restaurant. After dinner, we went back to Cooper Bluff, and there was a band playing live music. We also ran into more friends, our neighbors (one guy who is dad’s age, and his daughter who is closer to Julie’s age and her boyfriend, who lives in the city now.) It was so fun to catch up with them.

On Sunday, we spent the day on the motor boat. I haven’t been on the boat in so long. Stepping onto it gave me some anxiety, as I feared falling into the water, for some reason! But once we started moving, it was super relaxing.
We took the boat all the way to Connecticut, right across from Long Island, through the harbor. Parking there, we stopped for lunch in Connecticut and then headed right back home.

We had an early night because my dad and I had to wake up early on Monday morning. We watched the new show on Amanda Knox, based on a true story. What a crazy story that is! Amanda Knox is obviously innocent and went through so much trauma just by being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Can’t wait to see the rest of the series.
Monday morning, I woke up at 4 AM sharp to drive my dad to the airport. He had a Viking cruise to get to! Always a busy man! Maybe it’s been a while since I did a long night drive, but I couldn’t believe how dark it was!

Also, I brought my two cats with me for the weekend. Venus and Luna really enjoyed it — getting out of the apartment and enjoying the big space of a house. I let Venus outside a few times (she’s very good and always comes back in when I call her.) They were so upset to come back home — but also exhausted and totally worn out!
