On November 14, I turned thirty… the big three zero! Thirty, flirty, thriving! The dirty thirty club!
It feels great. It feels like a fresh start into a new decade. In your late twenties, there is a lot of pressure to get everything sorted out before you turn thirty, but once you are finally there it’s like there’s nothing left to do. Here you are. And then you can just keep moving forward from there.
As I grow older, I feel less anxiety and competition, less of a need to compare myself with others, and more happy about where I am. I never really had an exact picture in my head of what my life should look like at this age. In the past few years, I have faced some delays, some detours, and some u-turns, but all of this is part of the journey that has pushed me where I am meant to go.
In my twenties, many people told me that these are supposed to be the selfish years, and you need to live it to the fullest. In my early twenties, I struggled to be selfish, at least in a healthy way. I struggled with boundaries, standing up for myself, and not letting people take advantage of me. By making an effort to put myself first, and to learn how to love myself, I can say that I have lived my twenties to the fullest.
Everyone deserves a moment in life to be selfish — in a positive way. When you’re someone who grew up timid and often felt controlled by others, you need a moment in life to come back to yourself. Relearn yourself, remember who you were, understand who you are meant to be. And now, the selfish years of my life are over, and it’s time to be a giver. I have used my twenties to give all I can to myself — I am ready to give back, give forward, give selflessly.

On my birthday night, Kevin took me out to dinner. It was a greenhouse restaurant so there were a lot of cool plants there. I had this pink-looking drink along with a black bean sweet potato burger on toast. It was so tasty!

On Friday night, I went out with some of my work friends. I had a couple of cocktails along with a beyond burger, shared a fried pickles appetizer.

It was lots of fun!
Early Sunday, I went to a rescue farm with Kevin. We signed up for a sheep cuddling session. I was expecting baby lambs, but they were full grown sheep! Still very cute! Even better, the little goats were there too, who we also got to play with. Of course, I’ve got many photos!

We got to just walk around the pen and pet the sheep and goats. The goats have very thick wool, so we were told that they like to be pet in the armpit!
We also got to see many other animals at the farm, although these were fenced off so we couldn’t pet them, but still very cool to see. There was a chicken and a rooster housed together with a beautiful, bright peacock! There were some donkeys. I saw baby piglets and baby cows. And they even have camels! The camels were so majestic!

After the farm, we went to a winery. We had a flight of wine with soft pretzels and a charcuterie board.

And at the winery, they also had more goats and sheep! They were fenced off, but I got to pet them still!

And then they also had this odd thing where you can push these pieces into a silhouette… not even sure what to call it! But this is it:

Cheers to the new decade!!!
