In astrology/mythology, each day represents a different god or goddess. Here is how I use each day to put myself more in flow with the universe.

Did you know that the days of the week are all named after deities from Norse and Roman mythology? With each day dedicated to a different god or goddess, it carries specific energy of that deity. When you embrace that energy, you can find yourself becoming more in tune with the natural rhythm of the universe.
I try to get in at least a little bit of daily exercise, so I’ll include which kind of exercises I personally prefer for each day. I also include some form of media each day, whether that means a podcast, playlist, or movie/TV.
Note: some religious schools (such as Jewish, some branches of Christianity, Celtic and Germanic paganism, and ancient Babylonian) believe that the day begins with sunset. It’s up to you if you want to take this into account or not!
Monday — Moon day

On Monday, we honor Luna, the moon goddess — and we honor the moon itself. Moon day brings a whole new meaning to “Monday blues,” in which this lunar energy has us deep in our feelings and emotions. Luna is feminine, mysterious, mystic, ever-changing, and introspective.
It’s important to be gentle with yourself on Mondays. For most of us, this is the start of a new work week. You want to gradually ease yourself into this change. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed about an entire new week ahead of you. That’s why it’s important to go slow. If possible, don’t make any plans for Monday in which you have to socialize or overextend yourself.
Monday is great for journaling and introspection. Most importantly, you should take this day to observe the moon. Which phase is it in? Here’s a quick guide:
- New moon: a seed is planted, fresh beginnings, slow movement.
- Waxing moon: energy is building, gaining momentum.
- Full moon: Peak energy, a lot of movement, preparing for release.
- Waning moon: letting go, detachment, slowing down.
For example, if the moon is nearly full, then you may want to push your energy a little more. But if the moon is waning, then you may want to make more room for rest.
Exercise
Yoga is excellent for moon day. Specifically, yin yoga or restorative yoga, in which you focus on comfort and calmness, is especially beneficial. Tai chi is also great — any type of exercise that values slowing down and connecting with the present. If you are seriously too burnt out to move your body, opt for guided meditation or breath-work.
Media
Introspective and melancholy music is key. Put on a sad movie and let yourself cry. Alternatively, you can dive into a mystery with a documentary. For podcast, try shows on therapy, psychology, mysticism, astrology, folklore, fairytales, or mystery.
Tuesday — Tyr’s day / Mars day

Tuesday is named after Norse god, Tyr — who is associated with the Roman god, Mars. Mars is high-energy, which makes this the best day for pushing your body past its limits. While Moon day is all about slowing down, Mars day is about slamming on the gas petal and venturing forward. All of the things you had to push off on Monday and be done on Tuesday.
While I’ve noticed the phenomenon of “Monday blues,” I’ve also noticed that people tend to get more pissed off on Tuesdays — just because it’s Tuesday. The sadness of Monday turns into the anger of Tuesday. Mars is an aggressive energy — we have to be careful avoiding arguments and impulsive behavior.
That’s why it’s so important to move your body on Tuesday. If not, it will build up and burst out through mental energy or emotional energy. You may feel tired on this day, but once you get your body going, you’ll feel better.
Mars is a masculine energy, and so we embrace divine masculinity on this day. So, less prayer, meditation, introspection, stillness of Monday — and more doing, taking action, gaining control. Sense of spirituality is transferred into the body and the physical senses. And so, exercise can be treated as a method of connecting to the divine.
Exercise
This is the most important day for exercise — so don’t skip out! A strenuous, high-intensity exercise will do you well! You should avoid anything mentally-stimulating or complex. The most straight forward exercise would be simply going to the gym — running, weights, etc. You can also run outside if the weather permits. Also: pilates, HIIT, kickboxing, anything that makes you sweat. Instead of the gym, you can do at-home workouts or join a class.
Media
Get pumped! For music, there’s hype EDM or heavy metal. For TV, go for anything with violence, competition, and war. For podcasts, you may want something highly motivating or an intense debate. Also, there’s a lot of mythology about wars and fighting.
Wednesday — Wodin’s (Odin’s) Day / Mercury Day

Wodin (Odin) is the messenger god, his Roman correspondence being Mercury. Mercury represents communication, socializing, medicine, intellect, and high speed. While we were putting motion into getting things done on Tuesday, Wednesday is the day of following through and getting results.
Wednesday is the perfect balance between masculine and feminine. First, came the highly feminine Monday, followed by the super masculine Tuesday, and now it’s time for a little bit of both! Wednesday is the day for successful work meetings, catching up with friends, setting up your calendar — along with caring for your health.
Writing and reading is especially favored on this day. You’ll want to learn something new and challenge yourself intellectually. When it comes to spirituality, mediumship is the best way to go. That includes tarot readings and rune readings.
Exercise
It’s best to pick and exercise that challenges your mind. If possible, take on an exercise that requires building skill. Something I personally enjoy is hula hooping — learning new hoop tricks. If you want to stick to a mindless exercise, then you can at least put on an informative podcast. Also, adding a social aspect to your exercise can help — go on a walk with a friend, do a group exercise, attend a class, etc.
Media
Podcasts are great — anything informative such as science, history, and the news. Gossip shows or just chatting podcasts work too — something social. With TV, you’ll want something with strong character development and intricate plot lines. In music, you might prefer “brain focus” playlists such as binaural beats or lo-fi. Alternatively, you may enjoy country or folk songs that carry a strong storytelling component to their lyrics. It’s a great day for fairytales, folklore, and mythology. Most importantly, you may enjoy your media more by sharing it with friends.
Thursday — Thor’s day / Jupiter day

Thor is the Norse god who can be compared to Jupiter or Zeus. In Roman mythology, Jupiter represents abundance, fortune, luck, expansion, philosophy, and spirituality. Jupiter is the ruler — the king! Thursdays should feel like “lucky” days in which taking a risk is favored. Every aspect of your life is magnified. Don’t be afraid to overindulge — eat a little more, spend a little more, and treat yourself!
This is the most spiritual day of the week, and so, making time for spirituality should be prioritized. Jupiter is specifically connected to traditional religion. You don’t have to officially belong to a religion in order to research it or dip your toes into it. If you believe in God, then you should take time to speak to God directly.
You may want to spend some time reading religious texts, listening to a sermon or spiritual speech (bonus if you give one yourself!), and focusing on expanding your limited beliefs. You should spread your faith — not in a way that implies pushing religion on others — but rather, encouraging others to connect with their spiritual side.
Exercise
Any type of exercise that connects you to spirituality will help. For example, certain types of yoga focus on this. Spending time in nature by hiking is another idea. You could also do mountain climbing, gymnastics, trampoline jumping — anything that involves heights. Ballet, especially pointe, also works. As Jupiter rules the legs, any type of legs/glutes workout is perfect, even just doing a set of squats. Most importantly, get yourself out of your comfort zone.
Media
Podcasts on religion, spirituality, or philosophy are recommended. When it comes to music, go for happy and uplifting — pop, disco, techno, indie-whimsical, etc. Alternatively, you could do a musical or epic, a rock opera, and an orchestra — passionate and dramatic! Taking the more religious route, there’s worship music, hymns, or gospel. As for TV, perhaps you want educational/expansive documentaries that challenge your limited beliefs. Or, you want a show with a rich storyline, that carries an important message behind it.
Friday — Freya’s day / Venus’s day

Freya is the Norse goddess of love, beauty, and fertility — compared to the Roman Venus. This makes Friday an incredibly sweet day. It carries the feminine aspect of Monday along with the social aspect of Wednesday. Friday is an excellent day for love — and that also includes self-love. On Friday, you should value comfort and pleasure.
There tends to be harmony on this day — and you can amplify that harmony by allowing yourself to experience joy. Eating aphrodisiacs (such as chocolate), hugging your friends and family, taking a hot bath, getting a massage, etc. are all recommended.
You may want to wear cozy sweatpants and wrap yourself up in a blanket all night — alternatively, you may want to dress up with fancy clothes and perfume/cologne, and go out! It’s all about what makes you feel most happy!
Exercise
Exercise should be fun and enjoyable — maybe with a friend, your partner, or a big group! Whatever it is, it should not be anything too intense or tiring. Dancing is perfect because it embraces feminine energy, beauty, and sexuality. Belly dance specifically is the best. This most ancient form of dance was said to originate as a form of devotion to the gods. Alongside, try exercise that incorporates aesthetic and scenery — walking through an art museum or a flower garden.
Media
You’ll totally want to dive into love & sex podcasts, shows, or movies. Anything related to dating, matchmaking, etc. is ideal. You may also want to lean into your girly side and do a chick-flick. With music, throw on a “love songs” playlist — or maybe something more sensual and flirty. On top of that, this day is all about comfort, so maybe do those “comfort shows” or “comfort songs” that you’ve done a million times before!
Saturday — Saturn’s day

Saturn is the Roman god of discipline, hard work, and limitations. Traditionally, Saturday is the last day of the week, in which Saturn represents the end. This is a day of drawing personal boundaries. Many of us do not work on Saturdays, and so we draw a boundary between work and personal life. But for those who do work Saturdays, it’s actually an excellent day for having the discipline to work hard.
The Jewish tradition sees Saturday as the day of rest — in which you place boundaries between yourself and the world — following very strict guidelines. But you don’t have to follow Shabbat to draw your own personal limitations — choosing to unplug, taking the day off from cleaning/cooking, or putting your phone on “do not disturb” mode.
On the flip side, you may choose to use Saturday as a day of getting things done — cleaning up the house, running errands, catching up on your to-do list. In this way, you are enforcing the disciplinary energy. However, you should be highly aware of your limitations. Do not expect yourself to get everything done all at once. Take your time doing what you need to do.
Also, Saturn brings solitude and isolation. While many enjoy going out on Saturdays, still be careful not to overextend yourself socially. If you’re naturally introverted, you’d be better off spending this day alone. (Note — if you’re following the rule of days beginning at sunset, then technically Saturday night is the start of Sunday, in which it does make sense to go out!)
Exercise
Solo exercise may be favorable but not required. Since Saturn honors limitations, you do not want to push yourself too hard! Exercises that focus on slow, steady, and controlled movements are best — like pilates or weight-lifting. Or, do some hiking deep in the woods — preferably away from large crowds.
Media
Saturn has dark energy — so horror films, spooky stories, and anything paranormal is favored. Alternatively, you can get into a science or history podcast/documentary. Saturn energy brings logic and facts — but it also leans into the dark arts, esoteric, and conspiracies.
Sunday — Sun day

Sunday honors Sol, god of the sun. In Roman mythology, Sol is masculine; but in Norse mythology, Sol is a feminine goddess. While the average workweek or school week begins on a Monday, many traditions see Sunday as the first day of the week. It’s a great way of jumping into new energy.
Sunday is all about the self. It’s about self-care, expression, creative arts, and happiness. This is an ideal day for relaxing and enjoying yourself. You want to focus on positivity. It’s also a great day for connecting with children (or your own inner child.)
Most especially, Sunday is all about the arts — music, TV, film, podcasts, books, performances, plays, and so forth.
Exercise
It’s best to do something in which you can freely express yourself. Dancing is great — especially freestyle dancing. Put on your favorite song and dance around the home like no one’s watching. You can walk in nature and explore different paths. Sun salutations are a specific type of yoga that honors the sun. Try childhood games such as throwing a ball, jump roping, hula hooping, hopscotch, shooting hoops, etc. If you have pets, play with them or chase them around. If you have kids, definitely incorporate them into your exercise.
Media
Almost any type of media may do — as the sun is all about the arts! But I would suggest something positive, uplifting, and wholesome. For music, put on your “happy songs” playlist or listen to music from your childhood, maybe some Disney songs. For podcasts, do some self-care advice or creative motivation. And for TV, try adult cartoons and kids shows, or art competitions, or something epic and dramatic.
Quick summary:
- Monday: feminine, introspection, slowing down, changing.
- Tuesday: masculine, taking action, high energy.
- Wednesday: socializing, medicine, reading/writing, learning.
- Thursday: good luck, expansion, spirituality, religion, philosophy.
- Friday: love, pleasure, sensuality, comfort, beauty.
- Saturday: discipline, work, boundaries, paranormal.
- Sunday: the self, happiness, inner child, creativity, expression.
