In astrology, a solar return chart can be done on your birthday to predict what the next twelve months will bring until the following birthday. It’s also dependent on your location.
Since I just recently had a birthday, I’m going to analyze my solar return chart, to see what’s ahead for me.

Age: 31
Each age represents a “house.” Last year, my age was in the 7th house, which symbolizes partnership, contracts, and working with the shadow self. This year will be my 8th house, which can be very extreme, heavy, and transformative. There could be a lot of big changes this year. This also brings themes of mystery, occult, esoteric knowledge, and controversy. Alongside, there can be more vulnerability and intimacy.
Cancer rising
I’m a Sagittarius rising, but my solar return chart is a Cancer rising. That means that in the following year, I may have more focus on my home, my family, spiritual matters, and a strong need for security and protection. It’s highly maternal energy. I may be more introverted and introspective.
Moon in Virgo
Since this is a Cancer rising year, more importance is put on the moon, which is Cancer’s ruler. This can show more privacy, spirituality, and emotions towards themes of habits and routines, health and wellness, and work.
It’s funny because I am already feeling this. Since my birthday about a week ago, I’ve been getting super structured in my daily rituals. I’ve set up a schedule for myself. I’ve also been focusing more on my health.
Venus in Scorpio
My birth chart also has Venus in Scorpio, so I may not even notice this. This placement makes relationships feel more intense, going through rebirths, and brings polarity between secrecy and vulnerability.
Mars in Sagittarius
Mars in a fire sign is good news for my energy levels. This year, I’ll find more motivation and passion towards traveling, learning and studying, spiritual matters, and exploring new things.
Jupiter in Cancer
This is even more maternal energy, with focus on home, family, spirituality, and safety. It adds that I will have a lot of good luck and expansion in this part of my life.
Saturn in Pisces
My birth chart has this placement – I’ve been going through my Saturn return for the past couple years. This year, it will finally leave Pisces once and for all, but since it’s in my solar return chart, I may be feeling it a bit longer. This can bring obstacles, challenges, and limitations when it comes to spirituality, emotions, and illusions. But it can also bring discipline and work into those areas.
Looking forward to seeing how this all plays out! 🙂
