Reflections on my Saturn Return

**Anyone born from approximately 1993 to 1996 has just finished their First Saturn Return.*

What is a “Saturn Return”?

The “Saturn Return” marks when Saturn completes a revolution from when you were born. Saturn is a slow-moving planet and takes about 28-29 years to make a full revolution. So, people experience this first Saturn return around this age.

Saturn spends about 2-3 years in each zodiac sign, so your Saturn return is basically a three-year event.

A second Saturn return will happen around your late fifties, around the age 58. A third Saturn return happens in your late eighties, around the age 87.

Saturn return is basically seen as a negative experience. Saturn is a planet of restriction, limitations, and endings. It favors long term gain over short term gain, which is harder to deal with. It commands patience and hard work.

The positive side of Saturn is that it does come with rewards — you just have to work hard and wait a long time for those rewards. It’s the planet of karma — and karma can be both good and bad. It’s just not a very forgiving planet — it holds grudges.

So basically, your Saturn Return is tough, but it’s worth it.

My personal experience

I experienced this from age 28 to 31.

I was born when Saturn was in Pisces. Here’s a timeline of when Saturn went back into Pisces for the first time in my life since I was born:

  • Saturn Entered Pisces: March 7, 2023
  • Left Pisces (into Aries): May 24, 2025
  • Re-entered Pisces (retrograde): September 1, 2025
  • Final exit from Pisces: February 13, 2026

I’m going to discuss events in my life that I found to be directly related to my Saturn return.

At the start of my Saturn return, I was living solo in a two-bedroom apartment, which had a very big living room and bedrooms. At this time, I had put in my notice to my landlord that I was moving out. Even though my apartment was big, it was kind of falling apart, and I just needed a better quality place to live.

I say that this is related because Saturn return happened in my 4th house – which represents home and family. So, the place I moved to was a 1-bedroom that ended up being much smaller, a smaller bedroom and living room. I see the downsizing of my home as directly related. However, the quality of my home became much nicer.

Moving and downsizing came with a lot of throwing stuff away, donating things, getting rid of a lot of my belongings. I had to donate a lot of books and clothes. I had to throw away some old furniture. And I had to stop buying a lot of things that I normally would have, just cause it wouldn’t fit my home anymore.

Also at this time, I started seeing the dentist – for the first time in like seven years! Note that Saturn rules bones and teeth. So, I had a lot of dental work to catch up on… I had many, many appointments after… quite a few cavities to fill…

In the fall, I had a freak accident and broke my foot (my fifth metatarsal – underneath the pinky toe.) And I had to wear a boot for six weeks. Again, Saturn rules bones and teeth, so I also attribute that to this. And this severely limited me and just made me appreciate being able to walk and use both feet.

In early 2024, I had my wisdom teeth taken out. I was out of work for a week and then in severe pain for many following weeks.

In spring 2024, I applied for a new position within my company. It kind of felt like a dream job and came with a lot of aspects that I’d been looking for in a profession. But this also came with a lot more responsibility.

A couple of years before my Saturn return even started, my Mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, and watching her go through that was the hardest thing ever. She passed away in summer 2025. So if you look at Saturn, it was actually out of Pisces at this point (temporarily.) Because of how long that my Mom (and all of us with her) was suffering through this, her passing was more like a release… the final release from suffering.

And once Saturn left Pisces in May 2025, I thought that maybe I was finally in the clear, away from Saturn’s harsh influence. I knew that Saturn would be back one more time from September until Feb-2026.

At this point, it felt like maybe my life was starting to move forward again. But the final round of my Saturn return really kicked my ass. In January 2026, my beloved cat, Venus, suddenly passed away. She developed a very quick and random health condition in which I had to put her down.

I do have a very spiritual viewpoint of life and death, and I do feel like it was fated to lose Venus at this time. I don’t think that any planet is directly responsible for this. It’s more like, her death was fated, and the stars can give you some clues and warning signs.

FINALLY, now I can confidently say that my Saturn return is OVER!!! Even if I go through two more rounds, they say that the first one is the very worst.

So despite making progress in my career, which I am definitely thankful for, there are many areas of my life that I feel like have been put on pause since I was 28-years old. As you approach 30, you want to feel like you’re growing and expanding. And it’s really hard to reach 30 and see that the past two years were full of loss, sacrifice, and limitations. But this is exactly what Saturn does.

I kept up with monthly horoscopes on Medium, which has turned out to be a huge success. But I did end up writing much less blog posts, compared to the prior few years. My Etsy shop had some success, but I did cut back by removing physical items for sale, and kept it strictly for online readings. And on Youtube, I did some pick-a-card readings, but I pretty much stopped the monthly tarot readings.

Overall, there was a lot of cutback in several areas of my life – my home, my belongings, my personal business, and a few health things with my teeth and breaking a bone. I’m really hoping that the next couple years come with much more growth – that will make up for what I’ve had to lose.
