I’ve Been Waiting 96 Months For New Calvin Harris Album, “96 Months”

Calvin Harris just dropped new album “96 Months” which is a collection of songs that he has released as singles over the past 96 months, or rather, eight years. These singles finally all have a home now.

“96 Months” is a nod to his highly successful 2012 album, “18 Months.” Some people are disappointed that this album doesn’t contain any new music that fans haven’t heard before, but I’m actually really excited about it. I’m really hoping that he drops it as a vinyl or CD; right now it’s only available on digital.

In 2017, there was the album “Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1”, followed by 2022 release of “Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2.” None of the songs on this new album include anything from the Funk Wav Bounces era. These two volumes had a very different sound to them – funk and disco EDM. Between these two album releases, there were many releases of singles that were much more house and techno style.

“96 Months” goes back to 2015/2016 with “How Deep Is Your Love” and “This Is What You Came For.” It also goes as recent as 2024’s “Free” and “Lovers in a Past Life.” It also include three tracks from his alternative alias, Love Regenerator, which leans into 90s and 00s acid house, a project from 2020.

Calvin Harris continues working with Ellie Goulding and they make an amazing duo. She has such a beautiful and angelic voice which balances out well with an intricately produced sound. He works twice with Sam Smith, who is also incredibly talented. And he also works twice with Rag’n’Bone Man, who has such a deep and powerful voice.

We get to hear Calvin Harris’s voice on two tracks, “My Way” and “I’m Not Alone.” I love when he puts his own vocals on his music, which is rare in recent years. He has said that it takes a lot of autotune to use his own voice which is why he doesn’t prefer it.

I love this album because it’s full of classics and brings a lot of nostalgia. It also has more recent tracks that makes me excited about the future of his music. I’m very much looking forward to the next release of a full length album with all new music.
