I had a very packed weekend, last weekend! It was possibly the busiest weekend I’ve had in a long time!

It started out with a visit to OB, my hometown in New York. My dad was out sailing so I missed him (sorry, Dad!!) but luckily my aunt Nancy and uncle David were there visiting too, so I got to see them! Nina was also there, a high school friend of my mom’s (and her sisters), so it was wonderful to see her as well! The harbor house was hosting a BBQ, so all of us visited Mom and we sat outside with live music playing. Mom seemed happy and was smiling a lot.

That evening, I visited my friend Laura Sofia who also lives on Long Island, and stayed with her the night. We attended a Shibari class which was an experience like no other! Shibari is the ancient Japanese art of rope tying.

It was completely non-sexual and it is ultimately meant for self soothing and anxiety relief. Tying the knots was like a meditation that requires a lot of focus. It was a little intimidating at first, but once you get it down it’s very simple. It’s a strange but very good feeling! Even after you untie yourself, you can still feel the pressure, not in a painful way but in a relieving way. Kind of like swaddling yourself in a blanket.

The following day, I headed back home to PA, and that night I met up with friends to attend the New Moon Lunar Faire!

It was a very witchy scene! Lots of costumes and people all dressed up. The cutest one there was a matching mother-daughter in fairy costumes — the little girl was maybe around three-years old! There was great food — I had a sinfully delicious grilled cheese. And most of all, there were tons and tons of tents set up with indie shops — selling witchy things like crystals, jewelry, tarot cards, crafts, lotions, etc. There was even a tattoo parlor! Along with that, opportunities for photo shoots with giant cobras or animal skulls. There was chakra healing sessions and palmistry readings. Too much to pack into just a few hours!

I went with my friends Christine and Rachel. I know them both from work. One who I used to work with, but she left about a year ago; and the other who worked in a different department but same building as me, however I have now switched buildings so I work in a new area. It was really nice to see them both again! Especially to be outside of the working environment and just relax!
Overall, 10/10 weekend! I bought myself a rope from the Shibari class so it will be fun to practice! Also; the Lunar Faire is held every new and full moon which is twice a month, so if anyone is interested in going let me know!
Sounds like a lovely weekend 🙂
I’m v interested in Shibari, and have watched some documentaries about it. Thanks for sharing photos!
