Moon Day (Monday) | witchy days of the week

Each day of the week has magical correspondences. They are associated with the god or goddess it was named after. Click here to learn more.

Monday = Moon Day

Monday was named after the moon. In Spanish, the moon translates to “Luna.” We also use the term “lunar” when speaking of the moon. “Luna” is the Roman goddess of the moon.

This day is associated with moon-like qualities: femininity, introspection, spirituality, and emotions. We tend to feel more quiet and withdrawn on this day. It’s better to move slowly and connect to your inner world.

Many of us return to work or school on a Monday. This transition should be done cautiously and gently – rather than rushing into a new workweek. Do not attempt to accomplish everything in one day – you have an entire week to get what you need done. Just take it slowly.

Astrology

In astrology, the moon represents our deep emotions and hidden self. The moon watches and protects Earth, rotating on a 28-day cycle, waning and waxing. She shows herself and hides herself in a series of cycles. Her energy is dependent on the day.

  • New moon: new beginnings, a fresh start, planting a seed.
  • Waxing: building energy, taking action, moving ahead.
  • Full moon: height of emotions, peak energy, a moment of release.
  • Waning: letting go, slowing down, reassessment.

The moon rules Cancer.
