“Abandon all supports and look to me for protection. I shall purify you from the sins of the past; do not grieve.”
Bhagavad Gita 18.66
We put so much pressure on the material world — on other people, on situations, on objects and money. We rely on these sources to keep us stable and safe. Naturally, this leads to anxiety — knowing very well that any of these things or people can let us down at any moment. Things break, people walk away, money runs out… the material world is limited and nothing lasts forever… counting on any of this to keep you going is a great stressor.
So turn to God for support. God is forever, God will never “break” or “stop working” or walk away from you. This is the only way to relieve your anxiety and cleanse yourself of fear. Do not expect anything in the material world to keep you satisfied, in fact, expect the opposite, understanding that everything of this world has an expiration date. Find comfort in the fact that God never expires, has always existed, and will always exist.
Do not turn to the material world to save you. Do not count on people, situations, or objects to be your savior. Every single person on Earth is full of sins. Every object is designed to break at some point. Your current circumstances are constantly changing and have no solid foundation to lay your worries on. Only by turning away from these things and putting your faith in God is it possible for you to let go of your grievances.
