The New Year is a great opportunity to begin a new series. I actually have several new series in mind. This one is called “yoga pose of the week.”
I love yoga and it’s one of my favorite ways to stay active. I’m trying to exercise much more this year, and yoga is a fun way for me to do that. The cool thing about yoga is that there is so much to learn about it. So, each week I’m going to pick a pose, study it a bit, and write about it. I’ll start with my favorites and then move onto some new ones that I’ve never done before.
I’m starting off with my favorite pose. This is called “the dog wagging its tail” as it literally feels like you are a dog who is wagging your tail. This is a nice stretch along with gentle pressure on the arms and soft activation of the abs.
Start off in table top position with your palms and knees down on the mat. Swing your left hip inward with your left shoulder inward, then your right hip inward with your right shoulder inward, going back and forth. Keep moving at a fluid and steady motion for as long as you’d like.
Namaste.
