If you were born between approx. 1995–2008, then you have Pluto in Sagittarius in your birth chart. Here, I’ll explain what that meant for this generation.

Pluto spends about 10-30 years in each zodiac sign, therefore making up an entire generation of children being born. It also defines a key moment in history that comes with its own social characteristics.
See other posts: Pluto in Scorpio Generation (1983-1995) and Pluto in Leo Generation (1939-1958).
Due to retrogrades, the Pluto years are not exact, so please use a birth chart calculator to double check your Pluto sign (time of birth not required!)
Pluto was in Sagittarius for approximately 13 years, which is on the shorter side. It draws similarities to Pluto in Scorpio, which was only 12 years long.
For comparison, the Scorpio in Leo generation (1939-1958) took up to almost twenty years. And our current era, Scorpio in Aquarius (2023-2044) will last for more than twenty years.
The majority of the Pluto in Sagittarius generation would be labelled by pop culture as “Gen-Z.” Those on the earlier side, born 1995-1996 may consider themselves “Millenials” or “Zillenials,” while those born a few years after 2008 may also call themselves a part of “Gen-Z,” even with their Pluto being in Capricorn.
The technological boom: Internet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Smartphones, and Social Media
The era of Sagittarius is strongly defined by the extreme, forward movement of technology. While previous generations also experienced technological booms, this specific boom seemed to have a much more intense impact on daily living and the way that we interact with one another.
While the internet was invented long before the Sagittarius era, this is the time in which it fully took hold of society. School kids went from books and pencils to computers and screens. Chalkboards and whiteboards were evolving into powerpoint presentations. Laptops moved from a luxury to a necessity. From kindergarten to twelfth grade, a graduating senior could tell you how contrasting it was.
In the year 1995, every household shared a telephone, and some of those telephones shared dial-up internet in which you couldn’t go online while someone was talking on the phone. By 2008, every adult had their own cell phone, including most teenagers. And some of those phones had their own access to the internet.
But the technological boom did not happen without a parallel boost in creativity. Social media platforms like MySpace, Facebook, and Youtube allowed people to have more creative outlets in which they could express themselves. Unlike the industrial revolution for example, the internet age came with endless opportunities for putting imagination into use. Youtubers were creating their own shows, people were having fun with coding and photoshop, and memes were born.
The way that this connects to Sagittarius is that this zodiac sign is the Archer – determined, forward-moving, and quick. It’s also a fire sign – which comes with creativity, imagination, and power. This time in history marked a big technological boom accompanied by a rise in creativity and imagination through the use of these new technologies.
Rise of Electronic Dance Music (EDM)
The Pluto in Sag generation came into adulthood between the years 2013 and 2026. Around the early 2010s, was around the time that the “Emo movement” (popularized by the Pluto in Scorpio generation) began to fade. This culture of goth-punk seemed to be replaced by a more optimistic and high-energy vibe.
Teenagers and young adults gave influence to the rise of Electronic Dance Music (EDM). The prior generation, the Pluto in Scorpio youths, favored music that was edgy, controversial, and shocking. But as the Pluto in Sag youths came into middle school and high school, we see a push for EDM, characterized by technologies like autotune, heavy production, and beats that can only be made by a computer. The music is also more upbeat, energizing, and uplifitng.
Keep in mind that the changing technologies allowed kids as young as middle school and elementary school to have power over the music industry. The music industry was no longer about having the money to pay for concerts, records, or albums – you simply needed a family computer to access Youtube and stream artists over and over. With internet and social media, you didn’t need money in order to tell the music industry what kind of music you favored.
The Pluto in Sagittarius kids grew up with open minds and a wide acceptance of ever-changing technologies. They also saw these advancements as opportunities to be creative and imaginative. This allowed them to push society into a path full of childlike wonder and amazement – perhaps exactly what we needed after the doom and gloom of the Scorpio generation (no offense to Scorpio Generation – they just were born into a darker time.)
And so, you can really see this paralleled into the change of popular music. Pluto Sag kids wanted music that was hopeful, progressive, and uplifting – reflecting a childhood in which the world was innovative, and every year came with a new idea that brought further freedom of expression.
High Achievement and Goals – Beyond the Corporate Latter
The Pluto in Sagittarius generation is characterized by a strong desire for achievement and goal accomplishment. The Pluto in Sag generation pushed the bar for the younger, future generations to reach. Sagittarius is a highly determined sign.
They have been criticized by older generations for struggling with the traditional workforce. This is not due to a lack of work ethic – rather, it reflects a highly strong work ethic that conflicts with traditionalism. This generation is far more interested in becoming entrepreneurs or taking alternative paths that actually require much more hustle and bustle than the classic corporate latter.
The late 2010s and early 2020s saw a rise of “influencers” and “content creators.” While these types of jobs look easy from the outside, they actually require much more work and energy than your typical 9-to-5. This generation seems the least interested in a stable job that offers medical benefits and paid time off. Instead, they’re happier working on the clock at all hours, being their own bosses, and running on intrinsic motivation.
You could say that the traditional educational system and the corporate career path is not challenging or intriguing enough for this generation – it bores them. They also struggle with jobs that do not allow creative expression. They need jobs that require brainstorming and thinking outside of the box. Alongside, their restlessness makes them eager to switch around jobs, try new companies, or pick a career that involves travel.
Outside of work, this generation is focused on creative hobbies and personal goals. After work, they are dissatisfied with coming home and simply watching TV with an easy dinner. They need pursuits in their home and personal life that challenges them and allows unique expression.
Spirituality, Ethics, and Positivity as a Whole
Many people do not know that Sagittarius is a highly spiritual sign – as it is ruled by Jupiter, the planet of faith and spirituality. The Sagittarius generation strongly values ethics in a way that previous generations didn’t take as seriously. They are far more “wholesome” in comparison to the prior Scorpio generation.
Alongside, Jupiter is also connected to “big picture thinking” and looking at the world as a whole – rather than zoning into the details. This generation sees the world by taking a step back and paying more attention to the “big stuff” instead of the little things. They are more likely to say that everything happens for a reason, more likely to believe in a higher plan when the details don’t make any sense.
Spirituality seems to be on the rise because of this generation. While traditional religion is still declining, it makes sense that this extremely innovative and progressive generation prefers a more alternative path.
It’s also said that this generation is far less likely to do drugs or drink alcohol than prior generations – or at least wait until an older age. They are also waiting longer to have sex than prior generations. Therefore, furthering their wholesome reputation.
As a disclaimer – this is not to say that every single person of this generation is ethical, wholesome, and spiritual. But this should apply to the majority – and the higher vibrational souls.
Criticisms: Ethical policemen, non-traditional workers, & internet-obsessed.
Every generation is criticized by their elders. The Pluto in Leo generation was criticized for being too immature, while the Pluto in Scorpio generation was criticized for being overly sensitive.
The Pluto in Sag generation continues to be criticized for many reasons, one of them for being ethical policemen. As mentioned, the Sagittarius quality of this generation makes them more wholesome, optimistic, and progressive. Their strong sense of spirituality makes them take the higher road – but their fiery qualities also make them willing to fight for a cause.
Because of this, older generations have told them that they are “too concerned with ethics,” that they take these issues too far. They say that this generation is “too easily offended.” And their thirst for social change is laughed at, claiming that they bite off more than they can chew.
They have also been criticized for being lazy – in terms of struggling with the workforce. And as previously mentioned, the reason why they reject traditional work is not due to laziness – it’s actually due to restlessness, high creativity, intrinsic motivation, and desire for change.
And finally, this generation is also criticized for an obsession with technology – particularly social media and the internet. While there are some valid points to these concerns, in their defense, many of them are finding productive ways to use the internet – including monetization and creative expression.
The future of Sagittarius Plutonians
There is a long future ahead for this generation. The eldest of Sagittarius Plutonians are just entering their thirties now – and the youngest of them are turning eighteen, just entering adulthood now!
One thing for sure is that this is a generation incredibly thirsty for change. The generation above them, Scorpio Plutonians, also strongly desire change – but in a destructive and chaotic way. Meanwhile, Sagittarius Plutonians want change in a progressive and forward-moving way.
The Scorpio Plutonians have been working to dismantle old ways. They are a generation of destruction and death. They are the ones to set the world on fire and watch it crumble to the ground – in order to clear away what no longer serves us.
And now, it is time for the Sagittarius Plutonians to rebuild something new. The generation above them cleared out all of the dirt in order for society to start again from scratch. Sagittarius Plutonians are the light at the end of the tunnel. They are the hope that the world didn’t end – it was reborn.
As they grow older and gain more power and control, they will be focused on spreading optimism and hope. They will push for change, progression, and a break in tradition. Surely, they will push to do things differently – and quickly.
Which generation should I cover next?
