Saturn Day (Saturday) | witchy days of the week

Each day of the week has magical correspondences. They are associated with the god or goddess it was named after. Click here to learn more.

Saturday = Saturn’s Day

Saturday was named after the Roman god, Saturn. Saturn is associated with endings, limitation, time, work, discipline, harvesting, solitude, and the occult.

The Gregorian calendar, adapted by the Hebrew calendar, recognizes Saturday as the last day of the week. Before the modern period, in which the outer planets (Neptune, Uranus, Pluto) were discovered, Saturn was known as the last planet in the solar system.

In the classic five-day workweek, Saturday is the day in which we draw boundaries against work and our personal lives. Our work comes to an end, or is put on pause, as we take this day of rest. But Saturn’s association with work and discipline implies that we must earn our Saturday’s. You must put in your 40 hours, and get all of your chores done during the week, if you want to have a relaxing Saturday.

Of course there are still many people who do have to work on Saturday. There is hopefully still a more restful feeling on this day, as a majority of your clients and customers are happily enjoying their weekends, so there’s less stress in the air. At the very least, there’s less traffic on the road during your commute.

    I hope you don’t mind me asking, but are you into this stuff for the mythology and fun aspects or do you believe the movement of planets and moons impact things? I look out there and I see lots of dead, airless worlds, wonder what kind of life exists on planets and moons that do have conditions for it, and wonder if some of the odd data we’ve gotten (like the extreme outliers of “transit method” star dimming) really could indicate cosmic megastructures and stellar engineering projects rather than comet swarms and dust.

    I mean, who knows what the hell is out there?
