Top 10 viewed posts from the past 10 years
I’m looking at my most viewed posts from 2016 to this day.
#10: Kellogg Family Lineage | My Roots
January 2022, ~5,000 views.

My 10th most popular post is the one that I wrote about my family history. I’m happy to know that I am not the only Kellogg who is curious about my ancestors! A lot of long-lost relatives found this post organically online, through search engines or family sharing it with one another. The response I got for this article was unexpected – I am blown away by how many other Kellogg’s found it!
The process of writing this post was super fascinating. It involved a lot of family research and I learned a lot. I encourage everyone to look into your family history. I am very fortunate to have so many photographs, newspaper and magazine articles, journals, etc. to learn about my family. I know that this is a privilege that many families do not have.
#9: Heavy Metal Female Leads of the 2010s
December 2019, ~5,000 views

This is a post that brought in a lot of viewers – unexpectedly too. In late 2019, I did a mini series of blog posts covering trends from the decade of the 2010s, like fashion etc. Heavy metal is not my #1 genre, but I definitely enjoy it. I especially like female heavy metal bands, and they do not seem to get the same representation as men, so I wanted to share this.
#8: QUIZ ~ What’s My Spirit Animal?
December 2019, ~9,000 views

I made this fun quiz to help others figure out what their spirit animal is! The quiz is very detailed and goes into specific types of animals. The first part breaks down if you are a cat, dog, rodent, livestock, sea creature, etc. – and then further breaks down as to which kind. For example, the cats are broken down into the house cat, tiger, lion, etc. I feel like most spirit animal quizzes are too broad – and this one gets much more specific.
#7: What’s Your Spirit Animal?
December 2019, ~10,000 views

This post goes in conjunction with quiz. It further breaks down what a spirit animal is and the difference between the animals. I would suggest taking the quiz first and then reading this article and comparing your answer to the other animals. This will either solidify your result – or maybe you will lean towards another result or multiples.
#6: DIY Craft: Mini Spell Jar
March 2021, ~10,000 views

Some DIY witchcraft! This is a breakdown on how to make mini spell jars. I go over the crystals, herbs, spices, and other materials that you can use. If you are looking for a fun craft idea, please check this out! It’s also very simple and easy to do!
#5: Decoding “Young and Beautiful” by Lana Del Rey
September 2022, ~10,000 views

This post breaks down the lyrics of “Young and Beautiful” by Lana Del Rey and goes over the meaning of each line. Something I started doing on my blog was go over the meaning of song lyrics. I’ve done this with some other LDR songs and other artists too.
#4: Top 10 Controversial Lana Del Rey songs
November 2020, ~17,000 views

I was inspired to do this countdown after the massive success of “Top 25 Darkest & Saddest Lana Del Rey songs.” Especially in her earlier music, she does have a lot of lyrics that may come across as problematic, but I basically go over how some of it may sound offensive. I do not personally find any of her music offensive though.
#3: Are you an “old soul” or a “new soul”?
May 2021, ~23,000 views

I am very proud of this post! I feel like many people wonder about if they are an old soul or a new soul. So, this post breaks down the differences between the two, and helps you better understand yourself.
#2: Top 25 Romantic & Sensual Lana Del Rey songs
January 2020, ~38,000 views

This is also something I wrote shortly after the success of “Top 25 Darkest & Saddest Lana Del Rey songs.”
#1: Top 25 Darkest & Saddest Lana Del Rey songs
August 2019, ~80,000 views

By a whopping 80,000 views is my most popular post! You may have already seen this coming! This one beats my other posts by a landslide. It continues to gain views each year, but has definitely slowed down a bit, as she has had several new albums come out since I first wrote this.
My thoughts
Top viewed posts are interesting because they are never what you expect them to be. I will write a different article on my favorite posts and you will see that they are very different. You can put so much time and energy into a post, you can be so proud of it, and it doesn’t get much reach. And then you can throw together a random post – and somehow it blows up. The internet is so unpredictable.
It’s funny that 4/10 of my top posts are about Lana Del Rey. I do really love her music, and I love writing about music, but I don’t find that representative of my entire blog. But clearly, Lana has a massive amount of dedicated fans. If I truly cared about viewership, I would turn this whole blog into a Lana Del Rey fanpage. But I have other things that I am more interested in writing about, so I don’t.
Thank you everyone who found and enjoyed these posts!
